Rated 2 out of 5 by from Regret purchase I bought this a while ago with extra media pads but regret purchase because the unit is so noisy, you hear loud water running in the background, interfering with listening to television. (Husband grumpy about it) Requires weekly water change and high use of nutrients. Doesn't stay fresh once you start harvesting. I've only grown the garden once and put it aside due to annoyance and now will attempt to grow it again to use up so many of the media pads I bought, but couldn't find any instruction anywhere to refresh my memory on how to use it, not online or in the Aerogarden blog.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of good gardening space I bought one of these Microgreens Kits for myself and one for my daughter. We are both disappointed. They are loud. More roots than edible tops. They smell bad even if you change the water every 3rd day which uses lots of nutrients. They take almost as long to start harvesting as lettuce. The crop needs to be eaten within 4 days. Difficult to set up and then remove. We considered these a waste of good gardening space and will not use them a second time. Replanted lettuce which gives us a continuous crop for a few months.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to Grow! I am really enjoying my Super Food Microgreens! They are crunchy and yummy, and I put them on everything (salads, sandwiches, cheese plates) and eat them by the handful. They grew easily. Set up was quick, and grow time phenomenal! Important to know that the kit is separate from the Bounty grower. They try to make it obvious, showing the outline of the machine, but, well... There’s always that one. Read all bolded fine print before buying anything. To the web designer, recommend changing important instructional font color to red and enlarging to an over 40 year old reader-sized font. None the less, it was worth the wait and growing is effortless. I am enjoying them tremendously. I highly recommend for fresh microgreens.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Tasty but smelly MicroGreens I purchased the superfood micro green kit for the Bounty Elite. I agree with the other reviews. Better instructions are needed and it is nosier than expected even if it’s the sound of running water. I have not added any nutrients and change the water at least twice per week but the smell from the felt medium isn’t pleasant. I will harvest and try a different medium. I am hopeful to grow tasty microgreens without the unpleasant smell (cross between something has died and someone has steamed broccoli/Brussels sprouts). If not, it’s a wasted purchase.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Water Damage to Bounty Since the micro green kit has a reservoir thatbis taller than then were the usb light hole the water spills over into the hole. It ruined my Bounty and as we all not Bountys are not cheap. I wouldn't of goting this kit if i knew how risky it was.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PESTO Using basil from the three (3) 'Sprout' Aerogardens in my kitchen window wells, made pesto recipe from Judith Jones "The Joy of Cooking for One". Served it on gluten free penne pasta with roasted asparagus coarsely chopped. Yum! Here's my improvisation: 4 cups basil leaves 4 tablespoons lightly toasted English walnuts 4 cloves garlic (Judith likes hers mashed with salt, I like mine thinly sliced) 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup olive oil Whizzed it all up in a mini food processor - ready in a flash. Enjoy! PS: The Bounty Aerogarden(TM) is sitting ON my kitchen counter growing herbs right now but with plans to switch to microgreens. ~SA

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Needs Careful Setup But Grows Lovely Microgreens! My AEROGARDEN BOUNTY MICROGREENS KIT works great. There are some things you should know before ordering: (1) The kit does NOT fit the old Bounty model with the square, upright display screen in front of the grow bowl. Check the product page photo of the current Bounty models to make sure that you have a recent Bounty model without an upright screen. (2) The microfelt pieces in the kit will NOT completely cover the screens in the Bounty microgreens deck. Also, Aerogarden sells out of the microfelt, so you may need to purchase additional microfelt from other suppliers such as seed companies. (3) The microgreens setup is a bit tricky. You do NOT want to overfill the bowl, because the pump sends water to cover the seeds on the screens. Rather than “Fill to Here”, you should probably start with water a bit BELOW the “Fill to Here” crossbar. NEVER try to add water when the pump is working to flood the seeds. (4) You should wet the microfelt before adding seeds, so that the seeds won’t float off the microfelt and down into the water bowl when the pump first floods the deck. (5) The pump floods the seed deck once every 25 minutes and runs for 5 minutes--so you have regular 30-minute pump cycles. These are NOT particularly noisy, but if you’re bothered by the sound of running water, then the kit isn’t for you. (6) Growing microgreens requires you to change the water in the bowl completely at least once a week, and preferably twice a week. To do this you will probably want to invest in a siphon, preferably a battery-operated siphon. The microgreens grow extremely well in my Bounty. When I was ready to use the Bounty for something else, I just harvested all the microgreens and stored them in a plastic bag in my refrigerator. They kept fresh for several days. To get variety in microgreens, I purchase microgreens mixtures from seed companies. The Aerogarden microgreens mixtures taste good, and the labels on the packages tell you what varieties of seeds are inside. This is important to me, because my husband has to carefully watch the vitamin K levels in vegetables. (That means that we don’t want any hidden amounts of kale or parsley.)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Customer Service not helpful I purchased the MicroGreens kit for my LED Elite Bounty gardens. The instructions did not work, so I thought maybe my Bounty was a different configuration. So, wrote customer service. They repeatedly wrote back saying "Which model?" When I sent the models they kept on saying "which model" with zero other help. (Note, I have spent many, many hundreds on AeroGardens and the gardens they were asking about were ones I bought directly from them. I also gave them the purchasing information so they could look it up if there was information they needed I did not have)

Why does this smell so bad, even if you change the water daily? I have one kit disposed of the greens they smelt terrible.

Asked by: Kate
A bad odor coming from Microgreens typically means either mold is growing on them or there is root or stem rot. Check roots and stems for discoloration or if they appear very thin or thread-like. If there is a growth on the microgreens, typically towards the top of them, then this is mold. Sometimes roots can be mistaken for mold growth. If there appears to be white growth at the base of the stems this is likely the roots and not mold. If there is rot or mold, then the microgreens should not be consumed but disposed of and the garden thoroughly cleaned before starting new seeds.
