Frequently Asked Questions
AeroGardens are designed to help you grow your own herbs, vegetables, salad greens or flowers at home. Our Seed Pod Kits are compatible with every model of AeroGarden. Planting with Seed Pods is fun and easy! Just insert the pre-seeded pods in your garden, add water, and the patented, specially formulated Liquid Nutrients. Most plants germinate within 7-14 days, are ready for harvesting in 4-6 weeks, and will keep producing continuous harvests for up to 6 months and longer. Indoor gardening can’t get any tastier or simpler!
Pruning your herbs is important to keep them growing and healthy in your AeroGarden. You can start pruning when the plants are about 2 inches tall. We recommend only pruning about ⅓ of the plant at a time. When growing herbs, keep in mind basil usually sprouts within a week of planting, and grows rapidly. Be sure to prune your basil from the top as needed to keep the grow lights at the lowest position until all the herbs have a chance to catch up. Raising the grow light to accommodate the basil can slow or stop growth for other smaller, slower-growing herbs.
Yes, you can mix different types of plants in your AeroGarden to grow a variety of herbs, salad, veggies, and flowers if you’d like. If you are growing different plant types, it is important to prune the taller and bushier plants as they grow to allow plenty of space and light for the shorter and smaller plants.
After each planting, we recommend cleaning and sanitizing your AeroGarden for the best results.

Success Story
I trim the basil about every two weeks. That keeps it from going to seed. Have picked about about 8 times so far. I chop it up with a little evoo and freeze it for pasta pesto. A favorite with my family. I have a bounty elite and a very old aero garden so I have 17 pods growing. They yield a little over 8 oz. or 1 cup of basil paste. The leaves are beautiful and fragrant. I have enjoyed the Italian basil. It is still producing heartily. I will purchase these pods again, especially since basil in our area of CA is about $3.99 for a little package of almost dead basil stalks.

Fast growing and prolific!
Fabulous, easy and delicious! Basically care free except for cutting it back regularly. Tons of pesto, caprese salads, and tomato-basil sauces, and still couldn’t figure what to do with it all!

Basil-palooza!
Would have felt lucky to get 4 cups of basil out of this ... but we got 12. So everyone in my building got bags and we all made pesto. My favorite of all we have grown so far.

Best basil
I have owned 2 aerogardens for over 10 years and just love it. The basil that comes from this garden is absolutely like none other. The leaves are the size of the palm of my hand. It makes the best pesto and caprese salads ever! Love the whole process and will continue to purchase in the future. A+ product!

Basil Pesto in Abundance!
I received my AeroGarden 6 pod model as a gift from my brother. Since my plant expertise is along the lines of being able to care for only fake plants, I was bit skeptical. For the last year however, I've been growing basil so well I had to take a break and do a cycle of wild flowers so I could catch up with all of the basil pesto I had made from my AeroGarden basil! I highly recommend - this is so easy and so quick and so tasty!!

Beautiful basil!
All three pods grew into gorgeous plants. I purchased another 6 pack of pods a couple of months ago, and the thyme did not grow at all, but basil always does...particularly the Italian variety.

Very Disappointing
As expected, there was no germination. Just money wasted on seed pods. 3 years ago Genovese Basil pods grew to the sky!

how long do the seed pods last if you don't use them right away? I wanted to have some on hand but don't want them to expire
The seeds are typically good for up to 1 year after the expiration/sell by date. We guarantee the germination of all our seed pods for up to a year after purchase no matter the sell by/expiration date on the package. If the sell by date/expiration date is passed we still recommend trying the seed pods as typically the seeds are still good for a year or more after that date.
