Frequently Asked Questions
AeroGardens are designed to help you grow your own herbs, vegetables, salad greens or flowers at home. Our Seed Pod Kits are compatible with every model of AeroGarden. Planting with Seed Pods is fun and easy! Just insert the pre-seeded pods in your garden, add water, and the patented, specially formulated Liquid Nutrients. Most plants germinate within 7-14 days, are ready for harvesting in 4-6 weeks, and will keep producing continuous harvests for up to 6 months and longer. Indoor gardening can’t get any tastier or simpler!
Pruning your herbs is important to keep them growing and healthy in your AeroGarden. You can start pruning when the plants are about 2 inches tall. We recommend only pruning about ⅓ of the plant at a time. When growing herbs, keep in mind basil usually sprouts within a week of planting, and grows rapidly. Be sure to prune your basil from the top as needed to keep the grow lights at the lowest position until all the herbs have a chance to catch up. Raising the grow light to accommodate the basil can slow or stop growth for other smaller, slower-growing herbs.
Yes, you can mix different types of plants in your AeroGarden to grow a variety of herbs, salad, veggies, and flowers if you’d like. If you are growing different plant types, it is important to prune the taller and bushier plants as they grow to allow plenty of space and light for the shorter and smaller plants.
After each planting, we recommend cleaning and sanitizing your AeroGarden for the best results.

Only Basil grows
Basil is the only one that grows. :(. Thyme is struggling and oregano won’t make it. Disappointing. Stick to just basil.

This Mix is OK
I love my Aero Garden. Always seem to have problems with the oregano. This order one of the pods didn't grow at all. The parsley and basil grow great. The chives and oregano not so much. I hope maybe sounds like putting more seeds in the pods for plants like chives and oregano that aren't as robust.

Disappointed in oregano
My basil, chives and thyme are doing great. Only one pod of the oregano shows a bit of sprouting with what appears to be a dab of mold on the top. The second pod does not appear to have any growth. I thought I would wait a few more days for activity before I contact Aerogarden.

Nice herbs
Plants are growing a little slow, but are coming up, have grown herbs several times before with good results, other plants such as tomatoes and peppers do not do well at all, they bloom beautifully, start to produce and dry up, lettuce and other such product grow nicely.

Five of Seven Sprouted
Planted for 10 days now. Of the seven pods, five have sprouted. I still have hopes for the second oregano pod, but this is the third time I have tried to sprout a mint pod. None have ever sprouted. Needless to say, this is the last mint pod I will ever order

Herb kits
I love the herb kits! So nice to have fresh herbs in the winter. However, nearly every time I order (including this time), one of the pods is a dud. This time, it's one of the thyme pods. Otherwise, it would be 5 stars.

Beautiful basil but that's about all
Two of my pods sprouted and grew really well. Two were obviously moldy and the other two started and never grew any more. I originally contacted Aerogarden to replace the two that were moldy and they did so without any issue. But then the other two never grew and by then the two that sprouted originally were big enough that trying to start two more just didn't seem like it would work. I have beautiful basil and thyme and a very small chive sprout. No oregano at all. Kind of a bummer.

Herbs typically grow for about 3-4 months. Some herbs, like basil, can last longer than that, especially with regular pruning and harvesting.
