Most plants germinate within 7-14 days, are ready for harvesting in 4-6 weeks, and will keep producing continuous harvests for up to 6 months and longer. Different types of plants take different amounts of time to germinate and grow. In general, we’ve found these germination timeframes to be consistent:
- Flowers take about 7-12 days
- Salads: 5-8 days
- Herbs: 5-15 days
- Fruiting vegetables (such as tomatoes and peppers): 7-14 days If any of your seed pods don’t germinate after 21 days, contact us so we can send out a replacement for you under our 100% germination guarantee.

Beautiful, Fast-Growing But Messy
The Aerogarden Moss Rose plants grow and bloom quickly, and the various flower colors are beyond lovely. However, the plants are messy--they drop leaves easily, and the blooms last only a day or so. (Spent blooms are promptly replaced by new ones.) The plants will grow quite tall, so keep the light height as low as possible.
My moss roses were overcrowded with 6 in a Harvest. (Next time I'll plant 3 pods instead of 6 pods.) Moss rose is suitable for ground cover, but is toxic to cats and dogs, so should be transplanted outdoors with some thought given to the new location.

Not so great flowers
We have purchased several seed pod kits for our Aerogarden over the years. This is the first seed pod kit we have been disappointed with. Every pod germinated and sprouted as expected, but within three or four weeks two of the pods shriveled up and died with out ever putting on blooms. The blooms we have gotten last one day, and then start to wilt. We have never had more than five or six blooms at a time. These have been in the Aerogarden for a little over six weeks, and I have just ordered something different to replace them.

I wanted to love them....but
I wanted to love these however only 2 of the pods germinated, I was very sad over this. I didn't reach out to aerogarden quick enough because it was my busy season at work and time slipped away. With this said though, this is the only pod set that was a dud and it certainly has not dampered my love for the aerogarden experience. I just learned that, if lack of germination occurs on more than half the pad collection, reach out immediately before the time frame for replacement closes.

Disappointing and Messy
They sprouted and grew rather quickly, and bloomed quickly, as well, but, WHAT A MESS! The leaves are continually shedding all over the AG and my desk - I mean, CONTINUALLY, and, although the blooms are pretty, the vines are so fragile, that when you try to gently move them so they are in a prettier position, they just fall off (the blooms and the vines). Won't be doing these again. :(

Rose moss not so great - dwarf phlox are better
Plant and flowers don't look so good in the Aerogarden. The best flowers I've planted so far are dwarf phlox. Aerogarden should sell pods with those.

Are the pods biodegrade so as to transplant into outside garden?
To transplant the pods into your garden or containers, you will need to carefully cut the basket in half lengthwise and remove the pod from the basket.
