Frequently Asked Questions

AeroGardens are designed to help you grow your own herbs, vegetables, salad greens or flowers at home. Our Seed Pod Kits are compatible with every model of AeroGarden. Planting with Seed Pods is fun and easy! Just insert the pre-seeded pods in your garden, add water, and the patented, specially formulated Liquid Nutrients. Most plants germinate within 7-14 days, are ready for harvesting in 4-6 weeks, and will keep producing continuous harvests for up to 6 months and longer. Indoor gardening can’t get any tastier or simpler!
Pruning your herbs is important to keep them growing and healthy in your AeroGarden. You can start pruning when the plants are about 2 inches tall. We recommend only pruning about ⅓ of the plant at a time. When growing herbs, keep in mind basil usually sprouts within a week of planting, and grows rapidly. Be sure to prune your basil from the top as needed to keep the grow lights at the lowest position until all the herbs have a chance to catch up. Raising the grow light to accommodate the basil can slow or stop growth for other smaller, slower-growing herbs.
Insects like whitefly, aphids, and mites that go after plant tissue all stay in check in an outdoor garden because of natural predators. Thankfully there is a natural balance and plenty of predators in the world. Plants grown in an AeroGarden are susceptible to all the same pests as other indoor houseplants. They can enter your home through open windows, on clothing, or on produce, flowers, or potted plants. If you see fine white threads on or between leaves, tiny black or green specks on stems or the underside of leaves, or a sticky substance on the surface of the leaves or grow deck, your plants may have picked up some hitchhikers.
After each planting, we recommend cleaning and sanitizing your AeroGarden for the best results.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Plants I LOVE my garden and have used it to grow herbs, had cherry tomatoes all December and January and am now getting the edible flowers growing and getting ready to plant them in pots for the spring. I will be growing the hanging petunia's for my outdoor hanging plants, once the edibles are rooted and growing. This is the best thing and the most fun of anything I have used. My Grandson was so impressed with mine, he asked for one for Christmas, which of course, he got one. My neighbors even stop by to see how it is growing. I have noting to say but good things abut the product and it is soooo easy to care for.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poor quality control My new aerogarden came with the 6 pod cascading petunias seed pod kit. Quality control wasn't great apparently since in the 6 pods there was one golden tomato plant, 2 cascading petunias and 3 pods that had coleus and cascading petunia seeds in the same pod. Since this was my first garden, it wasn't a big deal to me because it became an adventure to see what we would end up with. If I had been particularly looking forward to all petunias, I would have been very disappointed. However, the plants germinated well and all of the plants are very healthy and they are beautiful to look at and to watch grow.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Food and beauty This is the third winter I’ve grown the cascading petunias. I like to put them in the front of my aero gardens where they cascade downward. Then in the back I put the upward growing lettuces and herbs. Since they are in my living room, I like the combination of food and beauty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredibly long lasting! I've had these petunias for over a year, and they are still going strong.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful! I was given this kit to trial and review by the TryIt Sampling Community. Firstly, I definitely have always had a "brown" thumb when it came to plants of any kind. I always felt that all I had to do was look at them the wrong way and they'd die! However, this kit has given me hope! I received it at a great time of year, early enough to get them going for weeks of Spring time color. They were super easy to open, setup, and maintain. Plus I got to see them mature and bloom first hand up close - so neat! Each one has great color and looks healthy and strong. With a little watering and care, I expect that these flower will bloom for many more weeks to come. I love them and would recommend them to everyone!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gorgeous in my office! This has brought the whole office delight as it blooms more and more each day. There is a pretty, light scent that accompanies the blooms as well. I would recommend not planing all six pods at once to keep them from crowding each other out. I had a center one not bloom, but I didn’t request a new pod because it never would have fit. The coleus was a bonus plant that I guess got mismarked, but I love it and plan to combine more seed kits together in the future. I have had to trim that one’s biggest leaves often so it wouldn’t shade out the petunias. My boss got one for his mom after seeing mine because she can no longer garden outside. It’s just a joy and a fabulous office plant when I don’t have windows!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So cool to watch them grow The Aero Garden is awesome!! This is our second Aero Garden we have purchased. The first was some time ago and we planted tomatoes and it is still producing cherry tomatoes. We use them in our salads, or just to eat. Sweet and tasty. Our newest Aero Garden is basically an upgraded, newer model with a touch screen. We have planted flowers in this one and can’t wait to see them pop up. Both our Aero Gardens are so easy to use and the results (so far) have been fantastic! I would recommend Aero Garden to everyone. They don’t take up much room and the results are amazing!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sadly only 1 pod grew I ordered this seed kit with great expectations but sadly was disappointed :( Out of a 7 pod kit only one germinated and grew. I have new lights in the unit so do not know why this has happened. Disappointing with the cost of kit. I emailed the company but have not received any feedback. This has happened before are seed kits old???
