Summertime Lavender and Basil Ice Cubes

Mix, shake, and stir fresh basil, calming lavender, and sparkling water or libations for your new favorite summertime sipper!

Summer is the perfect time to enjoy a refreshing cocktail or mocktail! One trend that's gaining popularity is the use of floral and herb-infused ice cubes. Not only do they add a pop of color with your favorite florals, they also create a delicate, herbal flavor that's perfect for warm days.

Try an AeroGarden favorite by mixing the subtle flavors of basil and lavender to make a refreshing summer drink.

Let's get fancy and floral…


  • Sliced basil leaves
  • Sprigs of lavender
  • Water
  • Sparkling water
  • Squeeze of lemon juice
  • 2 oz. gin or vodka (optional for cocktails)


  1. Take your sprigs of lavender and chop them to release the essential oils. Place the lavender pieces into an ice cube tray. Next, slice your fresh basil leaves and place them alongside the lavender in the tray.
  2. Add filtered water to the ice cube tray and let freeze.
  3. Once frozen, pop the flavored ice cubes into a glass and add a squeeze of lemon juice.
  4. In a shaker, either add sparkling water or gin/vodka as well as fresh basil leaves. Shake gently to release the leaves' oils without destroying them.
  5. Add the shaker mix to your ice cubes and lemon juice in the glass, stir, and enjoy!
