How do AeroGardens work?

AeroGardens are designed to help you grow your own herbs, vegetables, salad greens or flowers at home. Our Seed Pod Kits are compatible with every model of AeroGarden. Planting with Seed Pods is fun and easy! Just insert the pre-seeded pods in your garden, add water, and the patented, specially formulated Liquid Nutrients. Most plants germinate within 7-14 days, are ready for harvesting in 4-6 weeks, and will keep producing continuous harvests for up to 6 months and longer. Indoor gardening can’t get any tastier or simpler!

Pruning your herbs is important to keep them growing and healthy in your AeroGarden. You can start pruning when the plants are about 2 inches tall. We recommend only pruning about ⅓ of the plant at a time. When growing herbs, keep in mind basil usually sprouts within a week of planting, and grows rapidly. Be sure to prune your basil from the top as needed to keep the grow lights at the lowest position until all the herbs have a chance to catch up. Raising the grow light to accommodate the basil can slow or stop growth for other smaller, slower-growing herbs.

Yes, you can mix different types of plants in your AeroGarden to grow a variety of herbs, salad, veggies, and flowers if you’d like. If you are growing different plant types, it is important to prune the taller and bushier plants as they grow to allow plenty of space and light for the shorter and smaller plants.

After each planting, we recommend cleaning and sanitizing your AeroGarden for the best results.

My son is sprouting salad greens in his, I have mountain flowers sprouting in one of my Harvests, romaine mix in another, and salad mix in my Elite Slim. They are so easy to set up! I did NOT use chlorinated tap water - I'm using artesian well water. They started sprouting so fast, and by day 24 I had already harvested the lettuces twice! My mountain flowers are definitely taking longer than the lettuces, but that's ok. I did have a couple of pods (2 flowers, 1 lettuce I believe) that didn't sprout and reported it under the guarantee feature on the website. The lettuces taste AMAZING and I'm so happy I got these!

I bought a basil pod kit to go with it for her to try first because we love basil. We “planted” about a week ago and have baby plants already! All of them sprouted too! Plus side our basil plants we bought from the grocery store benefit from the spill over of light. Negative it’s so bright. Like sooo much brighter than you think it’s going to be. Right now I have a canvas in front of it so it doesn’t hurt my eyes. It’s working out well. Don’t know if that will work when the plants are bigger. All in all I love this as much as my mother. It’s super simple to set up and super simple to follow when to add more water or food

Rated 1 out of 5 by from They sent a defective unit and won’t exchange I purchased this unit as a Christmas gift for my mom. You can imagine my disappointment when she called and said that the unit was broken and the seed starter kit that was supposed to be included was not there. I’ve been dealing with customer service for days to no avail. All I want is to exchange the product for unit that is not broken. As you can see from the picture, the port that is supposed to plug in the power cord is broken, and no power cord can be hooked up. Their solution… Sending me another power cord. This is a seriously terrible customer service experience. I will never purchase from them again. I guess my mom will just have to go without her Christmas present this year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from aero garden harvest slim My husband got me an aerogarden as a gift and i loved it so much i bought another one.. i have herbs in one and lettuce tamato in the other one. i love love love it. and the lettuce grows quick too .. and i use 3 different basils in so many dishes and wow what a difference FRESH herbs make! i recomend this to ANYONE that wants fresh and not store bought herbs and lettuce . i will prob end up buying a third one. its easy the light flashes when you need to add water or plant food so its really brainless .. and btw my husb got me this because my outdoor raised bed just was a flop and couldnt grow much .. now i can indoor garden year round!!!

I have been using two old AeroGarden models to grow vegetables and herbs from seed pods and to grow my own seeds from the seed starter trays for many years. The old models stopped working, so I purchased serveral AeroGarden Harvest Slim. The new AeroGardens are of a new design and much more efficient. I am very pleased with the results. I live in Colorado at 9,200 feet and can only grow hardy vegetables in my outdoor vegetable garden. I now have a small green house addition to my house where I am able to grow tomatoes, etc. I use the AeroGarden to germinate seeds in the seed starter trays for the indoor garden and outdoor garden as well.

When she opened up the gift it did not come with pretty much any of the things it said it would include. We didn't receive the plant food or the actual plant pods themselves. I tried contacting the company and still have yet to hear back from them almost 2 weeks later. I highly don't recommend this product considering my mom hasn't even had a chance to use it and for the bad customer service.

I hated buying those salads in the bag, because it would go back so fast. Now I can just cut off what I want to eat. It actually saves me a lot of money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from model or pods both don't work I do not know if it is this model or if it is the pods you are now selling. The only items which seem to grow are basil, mint and oregano. The parsleys (both italian and curly) from two different orders show a touch of green after two months; the others, thyme, sage dont sprout at all. I've ordered three different times and not happy. I had the programmable model and everything grew in that (lost cord and not buying another although I still have it) So its either the model or its the pods but I am not wasting any more money

I have harvested basil as recommended in videos. Subsequent growth resulted in copious, but tiny, leaves. What can I do change this?

The new leaves will get bigger as time goes on as long as there is room to grow. We suggest pruning by leaving five leaves on a stem, and the plant will grow two new branches there. Do this to make the plant bushy and productive. Also, prune any stem with flowers to force the plant to produce leaves.

For the second time, only four of the six seedpods germinated (have waited one month). This time I decided to ask for replacement and the program will not accept the model number on the bottom of my Harvest Slim.

The pod garden where your seed pods are to grow is not the problem. Your water could have too much chemicals which have been added by the city. Or you could have a water soften which uses salt to remove rust from water. Rain water collected in the open air not off roofs works great.
