Older gardens came with bars installed on the inside of the water bowl. You will need to remove those bars to accommodate the seed pods/baskets. They are not necessary for the garden’s operation. Push the seed pods firmly into the bowl. It is normal for seed pods on the sides to appear slanted. The flexible plastic grow basket will bend to fit the shape of the bowl. We recommend planting 3 seeds in each pod. Herbs can last up to 6 months before ending their life cycle. Some herbs will start bolting as they finish growing, this is when they start to flower and produce their own seeds. Some herbs, like basil, can last up to 7 or even 8 months. Some herbs may last only 3-4 months. The average is about 6 months. Our lettuce and salad green varieties can last up to 4 months before bolting or bitterness set in. Some may last up to 5 months or as little as 3 months. The average is about 4 months. *Remember* All life cycle timelines are influenced by light wattage, photo period, and general care. Higher wattages lead to faster maturity. Tomatoes, Peppers, and Eggplants can last an average of up to 1 year, minimum. Customers have emailed in pics of their two and three year old tomato plants. With continued tending and care, tomato and pepper plants can certainly last more than 12 months. The average is about 1 year. All flower varieties can last 4-5 months, at most. Some may last as long as 3 months or as long as 6. The average is about 4-5 months.
